Weekly Challenge Update (January 5 to 11)

Slow week with the movies. Only two viewed in seven days. Been busy, busy, busy. Drinking Buddies was the last update regarding movies. I managed to sneak one in today. On that note, I finished my first television show season.

The second movie I watched this week stars Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck, Josh Hutcherson, Adrianne Palicki, Isabel Lucas, and Jeffery Dean Morgon in the 2012 remake of the 1884 movie Red Dawn. The 2012 release was actually filmed in 2009 with a 2010 release date. However, MGM was in financial trouble, which delayed the release of this film.

So, movie number 9 of the 365 Movies in 365 Days Challenge is:

Red Dawn

And as mentioned above, I finished my first television series season. This show aired in Canada and has just entered its seventh season. Netflix streams the first four seasons, and every episode is currently available on iTunes. Based on a popular book series by Lauren Brooke, Heartland is a series about a family and the struggles to run a successful horse ranch and remain a close family.

With that said, television series season number 1 of the 52 television series seasons in 52 weeks is:

Heartland

January 7, 2014

Sorry for no post yesterday readers. I was caught up in work related issues and had no time, none, to watch a movie and post. But, I managed time today to watch one movie and to start a TV series. The TV series will not count until the entire season is complete. I will post it when I am finished with the season.

As for the movie, I picked one from Netflix today. The movie:

Drinking Buddies

Drinking Buddies is an independent film released in 2013. The movie starts Olivia Wilde (looking as hot as always!!!); Jake Johnson, Anna Kendrick, and Ron Livingston. I do recommend if you like independent films.

I'm going to have free time tomorrow as well, so I hope to ad a few more movies to my growing list. Drinking Buddies is movie number 8 out of 365 to watch in 2014.

January 5, 2014 (Day 5 of the 365 Movies in 365 Days Challenge)

Short but sweet post tonight. I know the year is young, but I have not missed a day yet without watching at least one movie. Today was a movie I streamed from Netflix.

Disney recently released a movie into the theaters called Frozen. The movie is loosely based on the fairy tale The Snow Queen. Actually, there are few elements between the two stories which are even close. I guess you can technically say Frozen was developed after Disney Animation could not find a proper adaptation of The Snow Queen for their liking.

Well, a Russian animation studio did manage to put an animated adaptation together. And released their version called Snow Queen. This version is closer to the fairy tale than Frozen is. But, Snow Queen is not as good as Frozen either. However, the movie is just fine for what it is. I guess they wanted to either beat Disney to the punch or ride Disney's coattails with Frozen.

And for those wondering, the movie is in English, not Russian.

Anyway, movie number 7 for the year is:

Snow Queen

January 3, 2014 (Day 3 of the 365 Movies in 365 Days Challenge)

Three days into the new year. Three days into the 365 Day Movie Challenge. And today marks another successful day of movies, along with shoveling 10 inches of snow. I hate the winter.

On to the movies....

The first two days of the year, I chose to watch the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Well, the first three anyway. Today, movie number 4 in the challenge is the fourth installment of the series:

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

On Stranger Tides stars Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow as he goes on a quest to find the Fountain of Youth. Some familiar faces appear: Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa and Kevin McNally as Gibbs. Some new faces join the franchise however. Ian McShane portrays notorious pirate Blackbeard; Penelope Cruz plays Blackbeard's daughter Angelica Teach; Sam Claflin plays Philip and Astrid Berges-Frisbey is the mermaid Syrena. Keith Richards, from the Rolling Stones, reprises his role as Captain Teague from At World's End.

After shoveling snow (still have more to do as my car is surrounded by a huge snow drift), I decided to take in a second movie. This movie fits the theme of the day: snow, ice, freezing cold. The movie is:

Disney's Frozen

Frozen is Disney's take on the fairy tale The Snow Queen. Talent lending their voice to the movie are Kristen Bell as Anna; Idina Menzel as Elsa; Jonathan Groff as Kristoff; Josh Gad as Olof; and Santino Fontana as Hans.

Tomorrow, I will recap the movies watched this week. Remember, if anyone has any suggestions as to which movies I should watch, feel free to contact me on Twitter, Facebook, via email, or post under the comments section right here on this blog!

UPDATE: 5 out of 365 watched so far in 2014. Only 360 movies to go.

January 2, 2014 (Day 2 of the 365 Movies in 365 Days Challenge)

A day behind, I know, but nonetheless. January 1, 2014, I watched the first installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies: The Curse of the Black Pearl. So, I figured I may as well just watch them all. So, on January 2, 2014, I watched two movies:

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

Johnny Depp once again wore the pirate gear and portrayed Captain Jack Sparrow. Also returning were Keira Knightly as Elizabeth Swann; Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, and Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa. Bill Nighy joined the cast in for these two installments playing Davy Jones. Also joining the cast: Stellan Skarsgard as Bootstrap Bill Turner; Tom Hollander as Cutler Beckett; and Naomie Harris as Tia Dalma. Jonathan Pryce and Jack Davenport also returned as their characters Governor Swann (Pryce) and Norrington (Davenport).

At World's End finished this trilogy nicely, though I did find some parts of the story forced. The love story between Will and Elizabeth reaches its conclusion with a rather funny scene on the Black Pearl during an epic battle scene in At World's End. And of course, the trilogy couldn't end without some more hi jinx from Captain Jack Sparrow.

I will soon follow up with a post for January 3, 2014.

MOVIE COUNT: 3 out of 365. Only 362 more to go!

The 2014 365 Movies in 365 Days Challenge is Underway!

Sorry I didn't post last night as I wanted to. Some things you just cannot control. But there is something I can control, such as watching 365 movies in one year. And last night, as I planned and promised, I watched my first movie of 2014.

I know you are all wondering: What movie did Fuzzy watch? Well, I will tell you..

The first movie to be viewed in 2014 is:

1. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

Curse of the Black Pearl stars Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa, Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, Keira Knightly as Elizabeth Swann, and Jack Davenport as Norrington. The Curse of the Black Pearl is the first of four Pirates of the Caribbean films, with a rumored fifth and sixth in development. The movie was released in 2003, and ranks at number 225 on iMDb's Top 250. The Curse of the Black Pearl won several awards including the 2004 Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role (Johnny Depp).

Tune in later tonight, possibly tomorrow, for movie number 2.

*** I will recap the movies watched for the week on Saturday, including up to date lists.

January 1, 2014

Last year, at this time, Fuzzy was on his way to creating a blog so he could give out a daily dish of the big F.U. While successful in the beginning, time because his enemy. The blog posts dwindled, and Fuzzy wound up disappearing. However, on New Year's Eve, Fuzzy returned. And he promises to bring a new adventure to The Daily Dose of the Big F.U. Blog.

As mentioned last night, I am going to challenge myself to watch at least 365 (or more) movies in 365 days. I am also going to incorporate 52 TV series seasons into this challenge. So at least one movie a day and one TV series season a week. Doable you say? I say more than doable.

I promised to start posting tonight with my first movie. And I shall. I haven't watched a movie yet today, nor have I began to plan which movie I will watch. But, I have an idea.

Let me list the rules of my challenge:

1. Most movies will count, including animated movies or foreign films.
2. Documentaries will NOT count.
3. Made for TV movies (such as Sharknado) will NOT count. The movie must have been released in the theater or direct to disc/video on demand. Made for TV movies are neither.
4. TV series seasons must start in 2014. Any season started in 2013 will NOT count. For instance, Walking Dead season 4 will NOT count to the challenge, but Game of Thrones season 4 will.
5. British TV series will count.
6. TV series MUST be at least 10 episodes each. If a season or series is only 6 episodes, it WILL NOT count.
7. I WILL count Netflix series such as House of Cards.

Now, let the movie watching begin!
